Coming off the heels of yet another superb deployment at MegaCon, the Tampa Bay Squad continues to invade locations around the Bay Area.
With April being Autism Awareness month, the Squad attended a couple of important locations for this Charity. The Annual Walk for Autism Speaks changed their location this year to incorporate the indoor availability of Tropicana Field. Over 8,500 walkers assembled inside with their teams and the walk was kicked off by DJ Kitty, Jake McGee of the Rays, and the members of the Tampa Bay Squad (Raising $268,000). The Florida Aquarium also hosted their annual Day of Discovery for attendees with Autism. CC-4023 debuted a new addition to the Squad with the Droid, “Chopper” making his first appearance.
CFF Great Strides St. Petersburg also changed to a new location for their 2Kwalk, at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve. The Tampa Bay Squad cheered walkers on and helped raise $55,000.
Super Highlight for the Squad came as the Clearwater Threshers Baseball team conducted their Star Wars Night, complete with over eight minutes of Fireworks with Star Wars Music. The Threshers were invaded by over 30 Troopers, and their attendance was over 6000 people. (more than 1000 more than their average for that day of the week).
